🧬 Victims of the sodium valproate scandal should never have been left carrying the consequences alone - but for my constituent Catherine and her son Matthew, this has been their reality for the past 24 years. In parliament today, I put their story at the heart of this debate: Catherine did what any parent would do and trusted the medical advice she was given. She was prescribed sodium valproate. Sadly, exposure to this drug in pregnancy is associated with a high risk of harm to the unborn child
