In the late '60s, AMC charged into Trans Am racing with stars like Mark Donohue, Peter Revson and Roger Penske, transforming the Javelin into a fierce competitor. The 1970 Javelin SST Trans Am boasted a 325 HP 390 V8, 4-speed manual, and upgraded suspension. AMC clinched 2nd in points, with only 100 street versions built for SCCA racing.
