The takin, a species under first-class state protection has been seen in the alpine forests of Shannan in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. Captured on camera grazing and moving calmly through dense woodland, the sighting reflects improving habitat conditions. Takins are native to high-altitude forests.
