Pt 1: Belize Police Department Gains 145 New Officers 145 new police officers have joined the ranks of the department after squad 96 passed out today. The numbers at the BPD have been fluctuating since while they have been recruiting new cops, the bad ones are being weeded out and dismissed. But they also have to contend with officers resigning, retiring, or passing away. The ComPol says they’re trying to reach 2.6k cops in total, and with squad 96 and the upcoming squad 97, that may happen soon

Belize Police Department Holds First Drum Line The Belize Police Department is hosting its first-ever drum line competition at Berger Field in Belize City. Eight secondary and primary schools are battling it out for first, second, and third place prizes, along with bragging rights. The event is led by the Community Policing Unit, under A.C.P. Howell Gillett. Gillett mentioned that this is just the beginning, and with support from the business community, the event will expand to other districts.

The Belize Police Department is sporting new uniforms. Deputy Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster was the first to be seen wearing the new ceremonial dress for his command level, as he paid respect to Superintendent Henry Jemmott when he was laid to rest back in June. According to the Police Minister, it's the policy unit that decides on the uniform change. New Police Stations and Police Recruits Incoming The Belize Police Department is planning to construct police stations in several communities across the country as part of its national crime fighting efforts. The department also plans to add an additional six hundred officers to the force.
